The Museum Garden Club do a wonderful job tending our authentic Victorian Garden producing both plants and produce which are available to buy in the shop.
The Railway Club works on a model of the former Blandford Forum Station which was featured in the February 2011 edition of Railway Modeller. A permanent exhibition in the museum, it was also built to be removable to be exhibited at Railway exhibitions. Alongside the model of Blandford Station the Railway Club is an interactive layout featuring 'Thomas and Henry' for children to play with.
The museum's Living History Project is working on recording oral histories from people in Blandford and the surrounding villages both through sound and other media, finding and digitising old film/video and recording current events for future historians.
Our Museum Shop
In our shop you will find souvenirs of your visit to the museum but also local crafts and produce. Alex, our bee man sells delicious honey and honey fudge and beeswax candles and hand-cream; our museum garden club members produce home made jams and chutneys and there are always plants for sale at very reasonable prices.
We are also working with local crafts people to display their work in the shop to make it a real hub of the community. Remember, entrance to the museum is free. So, if you are looking for that special gift, drop in to see us and we may have exactly what you want.
If you are a local crafts person and would like to use the museum shop as a show case, call the museum and leave a message for Joy Reynolds, the Shop Manager or email via the links on the contact page
