Living History Project
An old tool from the workshop, grandma's recipe book, old school reports: just think of the stories that can be woven around such mementos. This is the starting point for the Blandford Museum Oral History project; an important initiative to record the day to day history of our community.
If you would like to be involved in the project, come along to our series of social events, where tea, coffee and home-made cakes will be on offer, in return for your participation. To record stories we will be holding training sessions in January (see below). Later in the year we will be asking people to come to events with their stories, which we can then record and film.
The project is open to people of all ages. We need people to help record and display the stories, as well as people who can talk about the way things were. Help us capture a vital picture of Blandford as it was, to ensure future generations can understand how their town has changed over time.
Training Sessions for anyone interested in learning how to collect digital interviews (Oral History) will be held on two consecutive Thursdays in January 2012. If you would like to attend these training sessions, please come to the Blandford Museum at 7pm on the 19th and the 26th of January. These sessions are free to all.

Blandford Museum Curator Dr. Peter Andrews enjoys a WWII ration recipe for carrot and cabbage sandwiches while talking with Edrys Barkham from Bryanston School. Two students on the right, Tom Frew and George Harkins, presented their 22 minute edited DVD on "WWII Memories of Blandford" at the Donut Dugout. |
